Because I have no imagination...

So my spring break while I'm abroad will be about 3 weeks long (!!!!!!). Needless to say, I plan to make the most of it all over Europe.

However, I have no imagination in choosing where I'll go. So if you have any creative ideas as to where I should go during that time, leave a post below. I could definitely use the suggestions.

  1. My favorite places around Europe:

    - The fjords of Norway
    - Barcelona
    - Istanbul
    - Vienna
    - Paris
    - The Black Forest

  2. I would recommend taking "long" weekend trips to:
    -Paris via chunnel
    -Ireland (kinda pricey)
    -Elsewhere in the UK
    -Possibly Oslo, Norway; Copenhagen, Denmark

Then, during your three weeks. Fly into Italy, hit up Rome, Tuscany, Venice via train. Then go to Vienna, Austria, Prague, CR, Krakow, Poland and then Berlin, Frankfurt, Rottenburg. Brussels via Luxembourg, then Den Haag and Amsterdam.

Or... spend three weeks in Spain/Portugal enjoying some beach time.

Use Ryan Air and the trains.

  4. Oh I forgot Bruges and Ghent. If you go to Brussels, it's an absolute crime not to go to Bruges and/or Ghent.

Likewise, if you find yourself in Oslo it's a crime of similar magnitude not to see the fjords (the train station sells a day pass to Bergen and back).

Bath is also worth seeing within the UK. Also, be sure to give London a good look. Oftentimes people studying in the UK forget to spend time there, and it's a really fantastic city. If you plan ahead and use the tube, you'll find it's not as expensive as people complain it is.

And, of course, I'd recommend Oxford. It really is a beautiful city, and if you find yourself pondering a trip there, I can give you tons of suggestions.

HAVE A GREAT TIME! Lucky you.

  5. To everyone:

Thank you for your awesome suggestions. They're all going in my log book as places I have to go to. Pictures will follow.

  6. Do your inner latin geek a favor and take a flight to Athens. It'll also be a nice break from rainy, chilly England.

I agree with the other posts, I'm not going to repeat places, you know where I would recommend.

One other place that's not listed...and especially if you go to Norway...hit up Stockholm. It's gorgeous, and the people talk super funny, so that's always an added bonus, right?

  7. To Nick: There are fjords near Oslo. But Bergen is a nice departure from Oslo. So is Stavanger. If you take the train to either, there is some gorgeous land in between the fjords.

Sweden and Finland are nice as well, but be prepared for super cold anywhere in Scandinavia unless you go towards the end of the semester.
